Life@Onetag: Onboarding Done Right

Meet Dylan Steinfeld, Customer Success Manager on the Supply team, based in New York. We caught up with him to chat about his first few months at Onetag and what life’s really like behind the scenes.

1. Can you tell us a bit about your role and what brought you to Onetag?

I manage accounts on the supply side, so my clients are sites and apps that have ad space to fill! Launching new accounts with the right foot forward, scaling existing business, supply path optimization, troubleshooting, etc.

Fun fact: I didn’t apply here! I had been looking for new opportunities, and Rachel from HR just happened to reach out to me. Coincidence? I think not. Once I started interviewing and meeting the team, the decision to work at Onetag was obvious.

2. What were you doing before you joined Onetag?

My previous role was similar, as I was in charge of launching new supply accounts. I had a fantastic mentor and learned an immense amount there. It’s been thrilling to take that knowledge and apply it here at Onetag.

Before that I worked for the old TV network Showtime, which my coworkers don’t know of because most are outside the US!

3. What surprised you most (in a good way!) about your onboarding?

The amount of visibility during onboarding is what surprised me most. I met with my team, team members from all sides of the business, management, and the CEOs. Not just surface level intro calls either — during my first week, for example, I talked about supply path optimization with upper management. Having only worked at large companies before, I wasn’t used to this.  It was extremely welcoming to say the least.

4. Was there a particular moment that made you feel “I’ve landed in the right place”?

Have you ever had a work-related thought outside of work hours that makes you so excited that you have to jot it down, just so that you don’t forget? That first happened just a month or so in, which is  when I knew I was exactly where I was meant to be.

When I return from vacation and multiple people say they’re happy to have me back or that they’re glad I’m here, those are wonderful reminders, too.

5. How did your manager and team help you get up to speed?

My manager helped me to hit the ground running. She acknowledged my previous experience and leaned into my strengths in data analysis. Including me in internal meetings that I would be a good fit, gave me some extra visibility, too. I’m a part of an extremely generous team which was also an enormous help!

6. What makes Onetag different from other companies you’ve worked at?

From the people on my team to C-Suite, everyone’s accessibility and willingness to exchange opinions. I’m not working in a silo, so my points of view aren’t just heard — they’re valued. We’re not performing open heart surgery, obviously, but between establishing processes and finding new ways to help my clients, I feel like I’m making a difference every day.

7. What advice would you give someone about to start their journey at Onetag?

Have your own opinions and come ready to learn. Be yourself, too. Also, don’t wait for HR to find you like I did!
